Welcome to our unfolding journey—where chance encounters, bold ideas, and community spirit converge to transform discarded technology into opportunities for change. Our story, still in the making in 2025, is a tapestry of unexpected moments, pioneering projects, and inspiring people. Scroll down to witness how each step builds a future where e-waste becomes a catalyst for hope and renewal.

A serendipitous moment in an elevator changed everything. Two strangers, ready to discard an old device, paused their debate and offered it instead. It was a simple act, but one that ignited a spark—a realization that e-waste could be repurposed, reused, and upcycled rather than adding to the growing crisis. A vision was born right there, and a new chapter began. Today, we empower communities to transform e-waste into opportunities, turning discarded devices into valuable resources for a brighter, sustainable future.
In a quiet moment at his home, our founder welcomed the first donation—a discarded device that carried the promise of transformation. With tools in hand and a clear mission in mind, he began the delicate process of repair. Every screw was tightened and every circuit lovingly restored, as he meticulously reconfigured the device to breathe new life into it. The goal was bold yet simple: to transform this forgotten piece of e-waste into a fully functional laptop for a student in need. Observers could almost feel the hope in the room as the machine slowly came back to life—a tangible reminder that through ingenuity and care, even discarded technology can become a beacon of opportunity and change.

For the first student, a moment of pure hope unfolded. A young Black sophomore from a Michigan high school, he received his very first computer—a fully refurbished laptop born from our founder’s vision. As he unboxed the device, his eyes lit up with excitement and determination. This wasn’t just technology; it was a gateway to endless learning and opportunity, a tangible symbol that change is possible and that every challenge can lead to new beginnings.
On March 17, 2022, our journey took a monumental step forward when we officially registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This milestone cemented our commitment to transforming e-waste into opportunity, paving the way for lasting impact in our communities.

Across oceans and cultures, a new chapter of our journey unfolded when a young Jamaican girl, on the cusp of seventh grade, received her very first refurbished device. As she carefully unwrapped the laptop, her eyes lit up—not just with the joy of receiving a computer, but with the promise of endless learning and opportunity. This moment, bridging our local mission with international impact, beautifully illustrates how our work transcends borders, empowering youth around the globe to unlock their potential.
At Happy Grove in Jamaica, our team took the stage for our very first speaking engagement—a moment that resonated deeply with the local community. During an inspiring session, our founder shared insights on the power of making choices, encouraging students to embrace opportunities and shape their own futures. The energy in the room was palpable, and as a tangible symbol of our commitment, we wrapped up the event by giving away six refurbished computers. This unforgettable day not only empowered young minds but also reinforced our mission to transform e-waste into tools for education and hope.

Following the inspiring engagement in Jamaica, our momentum continued to build. We received our first monetary sponsorship from a Boston foundation—a pivotal moment that validated our mission and provided the resources to expand our impact. This generous support not only affirmed our vision to transform e-waste into educational opportunities but also fueled our drive to reach more communities in need.
Our first public event, "Sustainability and the Digital Divide," marked a milestone in our journey. Open to the community, it brought together educators, environmental advocates, and technology enthusiasts to explore how sustainable practices, e-waste management, and educational initiatives can bridge the digital divide. Expert speakers and interactive discussions revealed innovative solutions—showing how responsible tech and creative upcycling of e-waste can empower underserved communities. The event ignited passionate dialogue and left attendees inspired to be part of the movement toward a more equitable, connected future.

Our first computer repair courses were a groundbreaking step in our mission to empower future generations. 19 eager students—some as young as 11—gathered for hands-on workshops where they learned not only how to repair their own computers but also how to harness technology as a tool for their future success. These courses sparked a passion for problem-solving and innovation, equipping young minds with the skills to overcome digital challenges and turn e-waste into opportunity.
Our inaugural sponsored event was a vibrant Back to School Fun Day in Jamaica, hosted in collaboration with "Together We Build." Over 200 students received backpacks brimming with essential school supplies, while families enjoyed nourishing food and community support. To cap off the day, we raffled off six laptops, sparking excitement and hope for a brighter educational future. This event was a true celebration of community empowerment and the transformative power of education.

Our first major donation came from Agios Tech—over 300 devices that instantly boosted our capacity to transform e-waste into opportunity. This generous contribution not only energized our mission but also expanded our reach, enabling us to equip more communities with the technology they need to bridge the digital divide.
Our first major cohort experience came when we participated in an event with Next Cycle Michigan. We were honored to be one of the few organizations accepted into this prestigious group, dedicated to sustainable missions and innovation. Sponsored by the EPA, we were selected for the recycling supply chains track—a clear validation of our commitment to transforming e-waste into opportunity. This milestone not only broadened our network but also equipped us with critical insights and resources to further our mission of environmental and community empowerment.

In a high-energy pitch contest hosted by Next Cycle Michigan, we showcased our innovative approach to sustainable e-waste transformation. Our vision resonated with the judges, earning us both the Community Impact Award and the Harvest Impact Grant—a combined total of $6,000 in funding. This recognition validated our mission and provided essential resources to further our community impact.

It's 2025 now, and our story is still being written. Each milestone—from that serendipitous elevator ride to our groundbreaking repair courses, from empowering students locally and internationally to winning awards at pitch contests—has fueled our mission to transform e-waste into opportunity. As we continue to innovate, expand our impact, and inspire change, every new chapter adds to our legacy. Join us as we write the next page in our journey toward a sustainable, equitable future.
